Dear Sir, President Bush’s solution to our problem with Recession is to take money from you and give it back to you. Where, pray tell, is this promised largess coming from? He has already borrowed (spelled ‘taken’) our SS money to finance this useless war in Iraq. He and his Republican friends have arranged to refill our coffers by reducing taxes for the rich. Since the rich are not paying much in taxes, thanks to the Republicans; Where is the money coming from? Us! The lower and middle? Class. He can turn this recession around quickly by stopping the financial bleeding in Iraq at the rate of about 8 Billion a week. Oh, and also stop giving money to Egypt, Israel, Pakistan and other countries we bribe to be good. Friends, The Republican administration has dug us a hole so deep, it will take many years to crawl (and I mean, crawl) out of This country has lost its dignity, especially when we outsourced all our industry to other unappreciative nations. . Whatever happened to the concept that ‘Charity begins at Home’? Allan Jay Silver 1859 48th Ave., SE Albany, OR. 97322 Allansilver@comcast.net 17 Jan 08

Pertaining to Local Elections 2008

There is an Article on the Democrat Herald's website, stating that our helpful house representative Andy Olsen believes that the "special session", is a waste of time and money. http://www.democratherald.com/articles/2008/02/21/news/local/5aaa03_olso... I posted my opinion about our representative's views on the "Special Session" using my screen name time4change. I see these types of postings by the Democrat Herald as an opportunity to express alternative views. The DH seems to be pushing the idea that the Legislature is wasting our money. I see the "special session" as an opportunity to change the policies that created these issues because of a lack of good policy. In any event, whenever we can express an alternative view we have the opportunity to move an independent to vote against an incumbent. Now we just need a challenger.
