From the LC Dems Central Committee Meeting

  1. Barbara Adams encourages people to watch documentaries about Election frauds (such as Hacking Democracy).
  2. Dennis Newton encouraged everyone to tune into 620 AM (KPOJ) radio.  He especially recommended Thom Hartman and Carl Wolfson.
  3.  Robert Denny expressed concern over the overflow condition at Helping Hands in Albany. Helping Hands provides food and shelter to the homeless.  They are in the process of expanding their capacity but are currently in violation of city fire and health codes.  Denny worries about what will happen to the overflow population if they are not allowed to stay in the shelter.
  4. Dr. Alan Silver cautioned that Dems need to focus our negativity on the Republicans candidates and not our own.  He worries that we could end up hurting our chances in November if we denigrate our own candidates.
  5. Loyd Henion seconded Dr. Silver’s concerns saying that we will seriously damage our chances if we attack our own candidates.
  6. Matt Rasmussen advises that we need to give our nationally elected Representatives and Senators a scolding when they go against the rank and file values, positions, and sentiments of the party.  He said giving locally is good but he is aggravated by Republican-lite politics of some of our national representatives.

Not Hot but Informational

  1. Albany City Councilwoman Sharon Konopa mentioned that the city of Albany is working with Helping Hands to assist them with a “Case Management” approach so that residents of the shelter can be placed in other housing more rapidly than is now the case without such management.  This will help to alleviate the overcrowding.
  2. Sam Sappington encouraged people to participate in the process of framing the State Democratic Party’s Platform.  Sam explained the process and invited people to attend the four county meeting in Corvallis on Sat Feb 23rd between 9:00 AM and 1:00PM.  Sam wanted people to know that they have the power to have the Party express their issues via the process of creating the platform.
  3. Louise Owens complimented Bob Heald for his excellent work on the Web site and encouraged all to pay a visit.
  4. Bob Heald encouraged people to actively participate with each other by blogging on our web.  To do this he mentioned that one first must create an account after which they can either respond to another’s blog or create a new one concerning their issue(s).
